Sunday: Pork Stew with Hard Cider, Pearl Onions and Apples (I loved this so much I dedicated an entire post to it already) and Apple and Maple Bread Pudding (delicious and satisfying!)
Monday: (leftovers)
Tuesday: Ham, Artichoke and Potato Gratin (another hearty, satisfying winter meal full of bold flavors thanks to the ham and smoked gruyere cheese)
Wednesday: (leftovers)
Thursday: Lasagna (that I had made and frozen a few weeks ago), spinach salad with an orange vinaigrette, and some amazingly good chocolate olive oil blood orange cupcakes. I couldn’t find blood oranges at my lame Kroger, so I substituted with minneolas instead. These are so moist and chocolaty with a bit of citrus thrown in – even better, they are safe for Claire to eat as they are egg and dairy-free! These trump any of the vegan cupcakes I have made from Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World. Try them. Really. I know mine aren’t as pretty as Love and Olive Oil, but they taste great.
Friday: Oven-Roasted Yogurt-Marinated Chicken with cauliflower and rice from 1,000 Indian Recipes We decided to order pizza from our local pizzeria instead of cooking tonight.ย It’s our little way of celebrating Huz who just submitted the final version of his 290 page (!!) dissertation today (that and I bought him a special little time-waster too).
Saturday: Oven-Roasted Yogurt-Marinated Chicken with cauliflower and rice from 1,000 Indian Recipes
Sunday: We’re having friends over to watch the Superbowl with us and we’re going with a New Orleans inspired dinner. Huz is making Jamablaya, I’ll be making bacon-wrapped jalepeno poppers, and our friends are bringing the ingredients to make this fine Southern cocktail. Sounds like a party to me!
What did you eat?

My little grocery stores do cary blood oranges so I’ll have to try those.
Sorry about the VCTOTW cookbook recommendation. I’ve had lots of success with it. Though they are sort of basic and not the gourmet creations you crank out.

Mountain Mama – you weren’t the only one to recommend VCTOTW! I’ll have to try more out of it, but my biggest complaint is that they all come out really wet. Ick. These were the first vegan cupcakes I’ve tried that actually have the consistency of a “normal” cupcake. I think, in part, it’s due to the almond meal. Try them – you’ll be amazed!

Nice weekly menu! We just had pizza out at a Neopolitan-style place tonight. Bonus points for this place being super kid friendly. Rowan loved the white bean dip, which I’m planning to replicate this weekend.
Also, I bought Mass Effect 2 for Roth’s birthday a couple weeks ago. He loves that game! He’s hoping to get Bioshock 2 next. I didn’t realize Huz was a gamer. Xbox 360? I imagine those two would get along famously. As would you and I, and Rowan and Claire. ๐

Jen – yes, he’s a 360 boy too. I bought him one for a birthday a few years back. I asked him about Bioshock and he knew of it, but doesn’t have it (yet). It’s the one thing he does as downtime while not cranking out a 300 page dissertation!
And I totally agree! Sounds like we’d all have a blast together, what with the good food, kiddos, games and movies that we all seem to like. Maybe we can find a job for Huz in Seattle! That’d be awesome.

Having gone to college in NOLA, Joe makes a MEAN Sazerac. They rival the ones at Patterson House. I’m also making bacon-wrapped jalapenos. Enjoy!

Kira – we’d like to sample those Joe-made Sazeracs sometime to prove your claim! ๐
Bacon!
Cream cheese!
Jalepenos!
What could be better? I mean, really!
